EDU 28503 - Professional Development This course will incorporate current trends and issues in American education utilizing materials drawn from social cultural foundations of education. Licensure standards, teacher competency testing, charter schools, magnet schools, virtual schools, home schooling and individual instruction will be explored. The organization of Ohio’s public schools as it relates to a teacher’s growth is also a focus of this course. Each teacher will prepare a professional development plan for the next two years of their professional life. The Workforce Development Teacher Competencies addressed in this course include Competency 1, Classroom Environment; Competency 2, Curriculum; Competency 3, Instruction; Competency 4, Assessment; Competency 5, Program Review; Competency 6, Recruitment; and Competency 7, Professionalism.
