ESL 11103 - Basic Integrated Skills in English


This is a basic English course for non-native speakers of English. It focuses on reading, writing, listening, speaking and critical thinking skills. In this course students practice basic reading strategies to help them understand simple academic texts, learn academic vocabulary related to those texts, and practice writing organized paragraphs. They also listen to videos and other aural materials about varied topics and discuss them. As they practice these skills, they engage in critical thinking by expressing and supporting their opinions, and connecting the topics in the book to their own personal experiences. Student must be interviewed by ESL Director to be placed in this course.
