NUR 11206 - Nursing Transitions: Part I This transition course is designed for students entering the LPN-to-RN bridge program.This course will build on previous knowledge and skills the student received in their LPN/LVN educational process and focuses on the professional concepts and skills necessary to transition from the role of the LPN/LYN to the role of a Registered Nurse. Students are introduced to Philosophy and concepts. Framework of the University of Rio Grande-Holzer School of Nursing, ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics. Nursing Process, the eight basic human needs, growth and developmental theories, principles of teaching, learning, and effective communication skills are presented. Nursing focuses on the diagnosis and health maintenance of the expanding family. Also discussed is the role of the associate degree registered nurse to think critically, communicate, and provide safe and effective care to the infant and child-bearing family. Combined with classroom and clinical nursing experience, learning is achieved by applying concepts.
