NUR 30707 - Clinical Decision Making


This course is designed to provide the RN-BSN student with the skills to perform a complete holistic health assessment and to plan nursing care for the individual. Specific attention is given to developing comprehensive history-taking and physical examination skills. Emphasis is on assessing the individual with appropriate analysis and interpretation of the data collected from individual families and groups. Stress concepts, theories, models, and stress management are covered. The aging process and common health alterations are discussed. Concepts introduced relate to physiologic, psychologic, and social issues pertinent to the aging population related to health care practices. These concepts are used to choose implementation strategies and to evaluate nursing care.

Prerequisite(s): Official acceptance into the RN-BSN Program.Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved pre-licensure R.N. associate degree or diploma program in nursing. Active and valid RN license (Ohio or state of residence). CPR and proof of nursing professional liability insurance; NUR 30304 - Concepts of Professional Nursing  with a grade of “C” or better in theory; and BIO 49303 - Pathophysiology for Healthcare Professionals  .
